Given that metals react with weaker sulphuric acid, in addition to what has been stated, it should be the endeavour of plant personnel to try and achieve as continuous operations as possible to avoid having to operate in weak sulphuric acid zone. In my experience the tendency for economisers to operate at sub 180 deg C is one of the root causes of economiser failure from gas side
